Sunday Morning Worship and Sunday School

   Worship Services at 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Sunday School for all ages from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.

As you arrive for worship, you will be welcomed by a greeter. If you require any special assistance or have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask the greeter or an usher. St. John is equipped with hearing assist devises and we provide large print Worship Folders.

Childcare is available for preschoolers during the worship services. It is conveniently located in the Education Wing, near the Library. An usher or greeter can direct you. If you would prefer having your children with you in worship, you are welcome to do so!

Each Sunday, we celebrate Holy Communion at both worship services. All baptized Christians are invited to receive the Sacrament. Children who have not received first Communion instruction and children who do not receive Holy Communion in their home congregation are invited to the altar for a blessing. Gluten-free wafers are available.

Sunday School Classes meet from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. each Sunday. There are classes for children ages two-and-a-half through high school and we have a variety of classes for adults. Childcare is available during the Sunday School session (for children age 2 and younger).

WORSHIP on WEDNESDAY
Guests are welcome to participate in our popular WORSHIP on WEDNESDAY!  Worship begins at 7:30 PM.

Becoming a Member

"Go therefore to the thoroughfares, and invite to the marriage feast as many as you find?

What Would I have to do to join St. John?

This question or others similar are often addressed to the pastors or members of St. John. There are 3 ways in which adult individuals may be received into membership.

1. By transfer of membership from another Lutheran Congregation.

2. By transfer of membership from another Christian Congregation, which is not Lutheran.

3. By baptism and adult instruction for those who have not previously been a member of any Christian Church.

Members are received throughout the year. We have baptismal festivals and reception of members in January on the Sunday we observe the Baptism of our Lord; in the Spring on Palm Sunday; in the Summer on Pentecost Sunday, in the Fall on Christ the King Sunday. The calendar dates for these observances vary from year to year.

For those who would be joining from categories 2 or 3 above are required to attend two "Inquiry Sessions" to prepare for membership. The Inquiry Sessions will provide opportunities for instruction as well as a "question and answer". Attendance is open to everyone but required only of those who have not held membership in a Lutheran Congregation or have been away from Church for a long time.   A New Member Orientation Session is required for all families planning to join St. John. The purpose of the New Member Orientation Session is to answer questions, familiarize everyone with programs and opportunities at St. John, and to assist new members in becoming part of the St. John Family.
